Kanazawa

Kanazawa is the capital city of Ishikawa Prefecture. It is located about 180 miles northwest of Tokyo, about 140 miles northeast of Osaka, and about 90 miles north of Nagoya-city, facing the Sea of Japan. It is one of the most well-known castle towns in Japan.

Toshiie Maeda, the lord of Kaga province, entered into Kanazawa Castle in 1583, and Kanazawa flourished as a castle town for nearly 300 years during Edo period. Many historical districts remain in the city. Kanazawa-city holds Kanazawa Hyakumangoku festival every year to commemorates the entry of Toshiie Maeda into Kanazawa Castle.
