The essence of raising children, of having children who daily bring us pleasure rather than pain, is in the art of communication. Children are not objects that we store on shelves in our homes. They are living, breathing, thinking, emoting human beings. If we maintain close communication with them, we will raise their self-esteem and our own. They will not draw off our energy, but instead will add to it.

I baked this butter cake quite some time ago. I found that it was unique as all the chocolate rice that I sprinkled all over the surface before I baked, formed a number one in the middle of the surface. So I kept the picture of this cake for this blog when it turns one month.
Well, this blog has reached a month. Glad that I made it!
Furthermore, today coincides with my Chinese birthday!
Another method of building self-esteem in kids, and this applies when they're younger than teenagers, is to tell them that they're terrific. If we tell them straight out, of course, they'll think it's a con job and they won't listen. So the way to really do it is to tell someone else about them, but within their hearing.
